NIOSH Webinar to Address Sensor Data, Heat Stress

An upcoming webinar hosted by the NIOSH Center for Direct Reading and Sensor Technologies is the second in a series focused on transforming sensor data into information and action. Invited panelists, including AIHA members Spencer Pizzani, CIH, and Maggie Morrissey, PhD, will address this topic with respect to heat stress and heat strain, which are common occupational hazards in industries like construction, manufacturing, mining, and oil and gas extraction. Emanuele Cauda, PhD, who is also an AIHA member as well as the director of NIOSH’s Center for Direct Reading and Sensor Technologies, is among the organizers of this event. The webinar is scheduled to take place on July 25 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. ET.

“Advanced monitoring technologies generate large quantities of data at a high velocity, from different sources and of varying quality,” the webinar page explains. “These different aspects of the data require professionals to engage in transforming sensor data into usable information, knowledge, and decision making to achieve the best value in health and safety.”

Individuals interested in participating in the webinar can register at no cost. More information about the NIOSH Center for Direct Reading and Sensor Technologies can be found on the agency's website.
