Webinar to Showcase Resources for Reducing Infectious Disease Risk

A webinar taking place on Wednesday will focus on the online public health awareness campaign Commit to C.A.R.E. (C2C), which aims to promote awareness and control of infectious diseases in the built environment. C2C was initially funded by a grant from CDC and developed as part of a partnership between AIHA and the Integrated Bioscience and Built Environment Consortium (IBEC). During the webinar, speakers will discuss how organizations can use the tools and resources available through C2C to improve workers’ understanding of how to reduce infectious disease risk in the workplace. Participants will also learn about the mission and goals of C2C as well as the applications of a COVID-19 risk assessment tool.

Sharon D. Beard, MS, the director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) Worker Training Program, and Gary Johnson Jr., MPA, an industrial hygienist within the program, will moderate the panel. Panelists will include AIHA CEO Larry Sloan, MBA, FASAE, CAE, and Kenneth F. Martinez (CAPT USPHS Ret.), who serves as IBEC’s chief science officer. Martinez has more than 30 years of CDC expertise in hazardous agent exposure characterization and mitigation control practices in the manufacturing and healthcare industries.

The webinar will be hosted by the NIEHS Worker Training Program on Oct. 4 from 2 to 3 p.m. ET, and there is no cost to register.
