Technical Framework: Climate Change Adaptation for the OEHS Professional


This new technical framework outlines the knowledge and skills needed by occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) professionals to address climate change hazards in the workplace. The framework utilizes the ARECC methodology to cover anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, controlling, and confirming OEHS hazards related to climate change. AIHA Guidance Document: Focus Four for Health – An Initiative to Address Four Major Construction Health Hazards

This recently updated guidance document developed by the Construction Committee highlights four safety topics that were selected based on national injury and fatality statistics. The document includes a focused look at manual material handling, noise, air contaminants, and high temperatures. Under each topic, the reader can find more information on the exposures and risks; control strategies; regulations and guidance; how trade groups and IHs can help; and additional resources. Focus Four for Health is a great resource for OEHS professionals supporting the indispensable construction industry, and it provides the tools to tackle other relevant hazards.

Call for PDC Monitors at AIHA CONNECT

As a monitor, you will be responsible for attendee sign-in, course announcements, and assisting the instructor as needed. In return for your assistance, AIHA CONNECT will waive your PDC registration fee. Assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis.

This is a great opportunity to serve in a leadership role, develop relationships with fellow colleagues, and contribute to the overall success of the conference. As a moderator, you will be responsible for speaker introductions, session announcements, and assisting speakers, as needed. Training is provided.

CPAG Spotlight

Environmental Scan

AIHA’s Content Portfolio Advisory Group (CPAG) is working with Foresight Alliance to conduct an Environmental Scanning of Trends that Challenge Worker Health and Industrial Hygiene. This systematic scanning research will identify emerging trends, disruptors and issues and anticipate OEHS content needs with sufficient lead time to develop new knowledge and tools to respond to emerging priorities. The findings from the environmental scan will inform AIHA’s content priorities for 2025-2030. Foresight Alliance anticipates the scan will be completed by spring 2024.
