AIHA’s Commitment to You

On behalf of AIHA, I’d like to express my deepest gratitude for your continued support and membership. Without your commitment to the association, we wouldn’t be able to provide all the tools, resources, and benefits that you are accustomed to receiving. To maintain this high standard of service and to help offset inflation’s impact on our operations, the AIHA Board did pass a motion earlier in the year to increase membership dues for three of our membership classes—full, early career professional, and emeritus—effective January 2023.

We’ve made every effort to keep the dues increase as low as possible, with full membership increasing only $17 for 2023—that’s less than $1.50 extra per month. The emeritus and early career professional memberships will be increasing by only $9 for the year, a monthly increase of just 75 cents. If you are experiencing economic hardship and are unable to renew your membership, please email us to let us know how we can help. Please note that student and international affiliate rates will remain unchanged. AIHA is committed to delivering the highest value while saving where we can by cutting overhead and other internal expenses. In fact, we will be moving our headquarters to a smaller and more affordable office space in the coming month. You expect quality benefits and resources that deliver value for cost, and AIHA will never compromise on that.

Over the past year, AIHA has offered various new programs, which include:

Looking ahead, your sustained membership will enable us to work on exciting projects such as:

  • new resources on our Apps and eTools Resource Center
  • a new 2023 Salary and Compensation Study designed to provide our members with detailed information on industry compensation practices, including salaries, bonuses, and benefits
  • new and updated publications with continued member-only discounts for purchases made on the AIHA Marketplace
  • Healthier Workplaces Show, a new podcast that raises awareness of OEHS issues
  • expansion of the AIHA microgrants program that funds occupational hygiene research and training projects in emerging economies, thanks in part to Amazon’s generous sponsorship

I strongly encourage you to make the most of your membership by getting involved with one or more of our 60-plus volunteer and technical committees. There are also opportunities to give back and join our mentoring community.

Do you have a question or knowledge to share? I encourage you to give back by engaging on the Catalyst online community platform. It’s a great opportunity to connect and network with other OEHS professionals.

Also, I’m not sure if you know, but in addition to receiving the monthly subscriptions to The Synergist and the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene, you also have access to the digital archives of those publications.

I would also like to let you know about two new membership classifications AIHA will be offering for 2023:

  • The organizational group membership bundles more than five individual memberships into one low-cost price starting at $835 compared to the 2022 rate of $999. Employers are no longer limited to only three individual memberships covered.
  • The military membership will be offered to U.S. active-duty personnel at 50 percent off the regular membership rate.

In closing, thank you for your commitment to AIHA and helping to advance the profession through your membership and volunteerism.

Group Memberships

I'd like to learn more about employer's group memberships. Several members of my organization are local section board members and are required to be national members. The balance of our staff are local section members. However, many are not required to pay local section dues if they attend our fall conference as their dues will be included for the following year. I'd like to know how many members from an organization are permitted and the various tiers or rates per employee.
