This four-day course is not only designed for OEHS professionals new to industrial hygiene or who have newly acquired IH responsibilities, but also serves as an excellent refresher.

Learning Aids

Each attendee is asked to bring:

  • A scientific calculator

  • A laptop or tablet to view the electronic handout, or a printed copy of the handout. Meeting rooms will be wired with easy access to electricity for laptop use.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, the attendee will be able to:

  • Identify industrial hygiene principles and practices.

  • Describe basic concepts of health hazard recognition, evaluation and control methods.

  • Select appropriate air sampling method for airborne contaminants.

  • Calculate the Time-Weighted Average (TWA) from multiple samples.

  • Compare sample results to the appropriate Occupational Exposure Limits (OELs).

Electronic Handouts

Complete course materials will be provided electronically. Electronic handouts may be downloaded from the web; electricity will be provided in meeting rooms for laptop use.

Paperless handouts offer participants a variety of benefits:

  • Course handouts will be e-mailed two weeks prior to the course. This allows last minute and current OEHS information to be incorporated.

  • Handouts will be distributed as a full color PDF, which allows participants to view detailed images and content on each page. Handouts will have comment- and typewriter-enabled capacity.

  • Bookmarks provide a “table of contents” to better navigate materials; information will be completely searchable.

  • Live links provide instant access to additional references.

  • Ability to add comments to the electronic handout.

  • Convenient, portable handouts are easily stored, referenced, managed and retained.

  • Negative env​ironmental impact is reduced by giving participants an option to save, transfer files to a laptop or other device, or print all or a portion of th​e material.

  • Electronic handouts are included in the course fee. 

Transfers, Substitutions and Cancellations

All transfers, cancellations and/or substitutions must be received in writing.

  • Transfers to an alternate date of the course offering can be made at any time within the same calendar year.

  • Transfers made to the following year may incur an additional $50 administrative fee.

  • Substitutions may be made at anytime.

  • Cancellations received 3 weeks prior to the start of the course will be given a refund, minus a $100 cancellation fee. Any cancellation received within 3 weeks of the start of the course will not receive a refund.

  • If you fail to attend, you will be liable for the entire course registration fee.

Certification Information

All AIHA courses are designed to provide CM credit for CIH certification maintenance and candidate training from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH). AIHA is authorized by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) to issue continuance of certification (COC) points in conjunction with the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
