Course Outline

Pre-Conference Session: Course Overview

Session 1: Course Welcome and Introduction to Qualitative Dermal Exposure Assessments

Session 2: Qualitative Dermal Exposure Assessments and Introduction to Quantitative Dermal Exposure Assessments

Session 3: Quantitative Dermal Exposure Assessments and Use of Sampling Data in Dermal Exposure Assessments

Session 4: Introduction to IH SkinPerm and Course Conclusion

Course outcomes

Upon completion, students will be able to:

  • Identify common exposure judgment errors made with dermal risk assessments.
  • Integrate methods to address and correct common judgment errors effectively.
  • Utilize new and existing exposure assessment tools and strategies to make more effective and efficient risk management decisions
  • Implement modeling tools (such as IHMOD, IH SkinPerm), heuristics, and other tools to guide qualitative exposure judgments
  • Apply deterministic and probabilistic exposure models to real exposure scenarios
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative dermal exposure assessments using the AIHA Dermal Exposure Assessment framework and tools
  • Incorporate dermal exposure assessments into a comprehensive strategy
  • Access free resources offered by AIHA and networks of dedicated occupational and environmental hygiene professionals
