Goals and Objectives

OEHS professionals will recognize their role and valuable contribution in the planning and conduct of quality occupational and environmental epidemiologic studies as well as the collection, integration, and analysis of exposure data and development of exposure reconstruction tools for use in epidemiology.

  • Membership Diversity
    Achieve and maintain a broad spectrum of expertise in the membership, including professionals in risk assessment, exposure assessment, toxicology, occupational medicine, engineering controls, and regulatory affairs - disciplines integral to conducting robust epidemiologic studies resulting in the awareness and prevention of occupational injuries and diseases.

  • Advocacy and Influence
    Establish and maintain formal relationships with other committees integral to exposure reconstruction and epidemiologic research, such as exposure assessment and toxicology. Emphasize the critical need for and role of robust exposure reconstruction methods and applications for epidemiologic pursuits.

  • Outreach
    Initiate and sustain activities such as professional development courses, articles in the Synergist, white papers, book chapters in flagship industrial hygiene textbooks, and sponsorship of platform and poster sessions to gain recognition and encourage new and existing health and safety professionals to develop skills, expertise, and interest in occupational and environmental epidemiology.

  • Operational Excellence
    The committee is a recognized source of science-based information and is committed to outreach with future professionals, the existing AIHA membership, and the general public.
