There are few places where you can get an Authorized OSHA Outreach 10-hour General Industry (GI) card, but with a laboratory safety and health focus. This training course will discuss: 1) OSHA 10-hr GI required (R) topics; 2) required electives (E); and 3) laboratory-specific optional (O) topics that are applicable to all types of laboratory settings, including, but not limited to, education, R&D, and lab-based manufacturing operations. This two-day class provides a general overview of relevant safety, occupational health, and industrial hygiene topics for new H&S/IH graduates, those new to work in laboratories, those who have changed work sectors, and those who just wish to obtain a recognized professional qualification.

The course will be a combination of lectures, class discussions, case studies, and various laboratory H&S references including Prudent Practices in the Laboratory - Handling and Disposal of Chemicals. After successful completion of the mandatory 10-hours of contact time, students will receive a certificate from the trainer and an official OSHA 10-hour General Industry card approximately 30 days after the class. By registering for this course, you are committing to attending both days to receive full credit and obtain an OSHA 10-hour General Industry card.
