Cover Technical Framework Legionella

Developed as part of AIHA’s efforts to reduce the impact of Legionnaires’ disease throughout the United States, the Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) committee has initiated a series of educational and guidance efforts. A cornerstone of these efforts is education for industrial hygiene (IH)/occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) practitioners to establish a cadre of competent professionals and technicians.

The fundamental knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) needed to assess Legionella sources and the risk of exposure are common to industrial hygienists, environmental health professionals, and infection control professionals. The skills needed to manage to build water systems and collect meaningful and reliable data, measurements, and samples are also critical for building owners, managers, and plant operators.

Here’s a Sneak Peek of What’s Inside:

  • A detailed look at the fundamental knowledge levels of professionals involved with Legionella assessment: program, responder, and technical
  • Recognizing potential hazards and building water system assessment domains
  • Summarizing response coordination
  • OHS safety training links and resources
