Health damage associated with volatile organic compound (VOC) exposure has been evaluated by different health and environmental protection agencies such as the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ASTDR).

Some compounds, including benzene, naphthalene, ethylene oxide, and 1-3 Butadiene are considered human carcinogens and can lead to life-threatening illnesses. Within a chemical laboratory, potential exposure to chemical airborne particulates is significantly high.

This webinar will provide a practical guide for OEHS professionals and laboratory personnel on effective exposure control programs for different hazardous routine activities.

Presenter

Amit Raiyani is a Certified Industrial Hygienist with 14+ years of dynamic experience in industrial hygiene & safety. He is presently associated with Qatar Energy as Occupational Health & Hygiene Lead, joined recently on June 1, 2022. Prior to Qatar Energy, Amit worked for Reliance Industries Ltd. as Lead Industrial Hygienist in Oil & Gas Sector for nine years. Prior to Reliance, Amit worked for Bureau Veritas India as an HSE engineer for three years and managed multiple sites as a consultant. Before that, Amit spent two and a half years as a safety engineer in the cement industry.

He has worked with most progressive organizations and has conducted qualitative and quantitative exposure assessments, developed comprehensive occupational hygiene and respiratory management programs, developed health performance indicators, and assisted in the selection of controls and technical solutions.

Amit was a board member of the Central Industrial Hygiene Association (CIHA), a non-profit organization creating awareness on industrial hygiene in India, and organizes industrial conferences and technical webinars every year.
